Dream Theme.

When you pick up every single item in your house, look at it intensely, press it to your chest (if necessary), and ask, “Does this spark joy?,” then if it’s a “yes” then it stays, but if it’s a “no” then it goes.

So there I was… in the middle of my living room floor surrounded by stacks of books and one-by-one asking myself, “Does this spark joy?”

That’s a YES.

That’s a YES.

That’s a NO.

That’s a YES.

And so on and so forth.

Well, that morning as I was surrounded by words in bindings I was silently bemoaning the fact that I simply do not know what kind of life I want to build for myself (no, I was not focusing on the task at hand). Then a funny thing happened. I noticed a theme in that YES pile and a theme in that NO pile.

In the YES pile I noticed all types of books containing heroes or heroines that are:

Creators.

Artists.

Adventurers.

Writers.

In the NO pile I noticed all types of books containing heroes or heroines that are:

Domestic.

Husbands/wives.

Poetic.

Classic.

Hm….

Marie Kondo, the author of The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up, says that much can be learned about oneself from the items that REMAIN after one has discarded all items that do not spark joy.

Whether I like it or not the remaining items tell me:

What I value on earth.

Where I invest my money.

What my hobbies are.

What kind of personality I have

What my artistic style is.

What kind of human I would like to be.

What kind of human that I am.

These thoughts are “to be continued”…
